Rev. Ruby K. Basham, age 81 of Sunbury died Tuesday afternoon, February 22, 2005 at Outlook Manor in Westerville following a 13 year courageous battle against supranuclear palsy.

She was born on February 16, 1924 in Webbville, KY to the late Henry and Bertha (Johnson) Bryant. Ruby moved to the Sunbury area in 1939 from Kentucky, she had formerly worked for Kilgore's, Columbus Millpar, operated the Berkshire General Store and was the owner and operator of Basham's Retreat.

At the age of 53, she became a minister and was proud of that accomplishment. A founding member of the Olive Green Cornerstone Community Church, she was ornery, a collector of everything from spoons to stamps, played softball at the age of 58, enjoyed people and traveled to all of the 50 states.

Survived by her loving family Sons: Bernard of Granville, Cliff (Natalia) of Gahanna, Dan (Betty) Basham of Sunbury, Daughter Shelby (Ray) Tudor of Westerville; 10 Grandchildren: Terrie Musick, Tami (Tom) White, Jerry and Terry Williams, Jeff (Lisa), Randy (Kim), Rick (Michelle), Tim (Tammy), David, and Walt Basham, 13 Great-grandchildren: Matthew, Allie, Abbey, Keli-Jo, Mitchell, Alex, Abby, Samantha, Calen, Kylee, Trey, Kraig, and Blake, Special Friends: Jeanie Hayes and Clara Keene.

Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Bill in 1988, Brothers: Ed, Don, Jim, Bill Bryant, Sister: Mary Browning and 2 Great-grandchildren.
