Funeral services were held in Spokane Tuesday morning (May 1, 1945) for Grace Boyer 53, outstanding local teacher, who died at her home here Friday, April 27, of an incurable disease. Ill since last spring, Mrs. Boyer had continued her teaching duties up until a few months ago.

Surviving are a son, Lieut. Max Boyer of North Carolina; a daughter, Mrs. Harris Taylor of Cheney; a sister, Mrs. Frank Laughbon of Davenport, and her mother, Mrs. J. K. Knapp of Davenport.

Pall bearers at the funeral services were Glenn Hartsuck, Walter Powell, C. J. Cooil, Charles Salt, Florance Morgan and Obed Williamson. Cremation followed the services. Dr. H. J. Bass was the officiating clergyman. William Pond of the local faculty sang at the service.

Grace Knapp was born December 27, 1892, at Buffalo Gap, South Dakota. The family came to this locality in 1910, and had lived here from time to time since then.

Mrs. Boyer was a member of the Rebekah lodge, and of Delta Kappa Gamma, and Kappa Delta Pi, educational fraternities. She was a graduate of the University of Washington and of Colorado State Teachers college at Greeley, Colorado. She had taught in the Junior high school here since 1930. She had requested that no flowers be sent, and that those who cared to do so contribute instead to the cancer control fund. Junior high school students of the popular teacher flocked the school office to comply with that request in her honor.

I'm not related to this person.
