A daughter of Joshua and Mary (Ross) Mathewson. Susanna married Stephen Baker III, a son of Stephen II and Deborah (Crossman) Baker in 1790 at Burrillville, Rhode Island.
Abbey Maria Hemenway, author of " A Vermont Historical Gazetteer, a Magazine Embracing A History of Each Town" states that, "the widow of Stephen Baker (Susanna Mathewson), having been a smart, active woman in her day and although far advanced in years, distinctly remembered the events connected with their early settlement at Danby, the customs and circumstances of the people in those days.
Susanna Mathewson descends from immigrant James Mathewson of Providence, Rhode Island prior to 1657: (Susanna, Joshua, Othniel, Daniel, James).
