Private, Company F, 39th Infantry, 4th Division. Son of John and Celia Anderson; born January 20, 1890 in Peoria, IL. Entered service at Galesburg, September 21, 1917; to Camp Dodge; to Camp Pike; to Camp Greene, NC; to Camp Mills; to France; in trenches 26 days; 82 days in offensives at Meuse-Argonne, St. Mihiel, Aisne-Marne and Vesle; in service 23 months; discharged August 15, 1919.
August Anderson, 71, formerly of Galesburg, died early this morning in a veterans' facility at Jacksonville, where he had been a patient for 33 years. He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Anderson was born in Peoria January 20, 1890, and moved to Galesburg as a young man. He was a member of First Lutheran Church here and the American Legion Post at Jacksonville.
He was never married. Only survivors are nieces and a nephew, Mrs. CE Worden and Mrs. Dwight Walters of Galesburg, Mrs. Forrest Larson of Rock Island and Paul R Swanson of Galesburg.
Funeral will be Friday at 2 PM at Hunchliff and Pearson Funeral Chapel, where friends may call Thursday evening. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for August Anderson, 71, former Galesburg resident who died Tuesday in Jacksonville, were conducted at 2 PM today at Hinchliff and Pearson Funeral Chapel by Rev Ordell Peterson, pastor of First Lutheran Church. C William Pearson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Roy H Pearson Jr. Burial was in East Linwood Cemetery.
