Delbert "Del" Relton Dimmitt, 88, of Pottstown, born Feb. 8, 1924, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Vivian (Crockett) Dimmitt. Born in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Frank Dimmitt and Pearl (Rufner) Dimmitt, he is also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Mr. Dimmitt faithfully served his country with the Navy during World War II. After his time in the Navy, he worked for Belmont Iron and Morris Wheeler Steel Co. as plant superintendent, after his retirement he went to work for Warwick Township for several years as the code enforcement officer. He was a member of the Mt. Pickering Mason Lodge 446, Veterans of Foreign Wars and also a former president of the Springford Rotary Club. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Scott Dimmitt, husband of Debra; a daughter, Kim, wife of Karl Hainsey; grandchildren, Kelly and Jeb Keiffer and Kristin and Kevin Filipovic, Michael and Adriande Dimmitt and Kolten and Karl Hainsey Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Rylie Filipovic, Michael J. Keiffer and Hunter Jacob Dimmitt. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at HOUCK AND GOFUS FUNERAL HOME, 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road, Elverson, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Masonic service will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place Friday immediately following the funeral service at the Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Mt. Carmel Church, Elverson.
