Danish immigrant, arriving at Ellis Island aboard the British ocean liner LUSITANIA September 19, 1913 with her groom-to-be, Thorwald Christensen. Born to Anders & Anna (Christensen) Nielsen per her Washington marriage certificate dated June 27, 1914. Accomplished homemaker & seamstress. Per granddaughter: "The family of my grandmother did not approve of the young bachelor, my grandfather, who was from the same town. The only reason they were in touch with him was when they found out he was also traveling to the U.S. on the same voyage as their daughter. Since he was the only other person they knew, my grandmother's parents requested that my grandfather look after their precious daughter for them, and see no harm came to her. As it turned out, they fell in love during the long voyage and married after they came to the United States. That is the story I grew up with and recall my grandfather confirming when I met him in 1964." Died, 35, of pneumonia/influenza. --- NOTE: Middle-named "Helen" per son Henry A. Christensen.
