ALEXANDER, Rosamond Tudor

September 20, 2006 12:00 AM

daughter of Charlotte Hubbard Tudor and John William Tudor, was born at Cottage Hospital on August 28,1923 and passed away on September 16, 2006 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Roz was a pioneer in aviation by becoming a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps during World War II, teaching the young boys how to fly out of Love Field in Dallas. Throughout the 50's and 60's she was actively involved with the SCCA, participating and winning cross country rallies, and racing her favorite car, a '52 MG TD. As her parents before her, Roz was a prize-winning equestrian, and rode in many a Fiesta parade.

As the co-founder of Santa Barbara Boat Rentals she maintained lifelong friendships with those she met on the harbor and with whom she often sailed. Roz loved outdoor activities and being a naturalist, enjoying annual camping trips to the Sierras with family and close friends. She was an accomplished photographer, writer, loved to read, and never lost her thirst for knowledge.

Rosamond is survived by her children Richard, Annette, J and Charlotte, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Services will held for Roz on Saturday, September 23 at Welch-Ryce-Haider, 15 E. Sola Street, Santa Barbara, at 11 AM.
