Thomas Garfield Allen, 84, of Collinsville, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at his home. He was born in Ararat, Virginia on October 19, 1930 to the late Arnold R. Allen and the late Gille Marshall Allen. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Regina A. Hodges and several brothers and sisters.
Thomas was employed in the furniture factories as a sprayer, enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time and was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ruth Agnew Allen; children, Hazel A. Poff and husband, Rodney E., Irvin B. Allen, Alfred L. Allen, Michael D. Allen and Richard D. Gilley(his grandson who was raised as a son); seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Brummitt.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30th from 5 – 7 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Dale Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Henry Memorial Park.
