Arthur Edward “Gid” Boyd, 86, of Martinsville, passed away on October 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born on February 16, 1928 in Henry County, Virginia to the late William Clinton Boyd and the late Flora Wood Boyd. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers: Issac Boyd, John Boyd and Walter Boyd; sisters: Martha Boyd Hundley and Edith Hancock; a son Maynard Leslie Boyd and granddaughter Cynthia Boyd.
Edward is survived by his wife Marie Ingram Boyd of the home; children, Eddie Carlton Boyd and his wife Becky of Danville, Randall Wayne Boyd of Bassett, Linwood Thomas Boyd and wife Jeannette of Christiansburg, and Kenneth Dean Boyd and wife Helen; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; sisters, Gay Rhodes of Martinsville and Pearl Clark Jones of Trinty, NC.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Tracy Freeman officiating. Burial will be Boyd Family Cemetery.
