Early Resident Passes Beyond
W. J. Frerichs Answers Last Summons -- Was Resident Here 45 Years
The death of William J. Frerichs Wednesday evening came as a surprise to his many friends and acquaintances, though it was generally known that he had been in failing health for the past year.

He was taken seriously ill Thursday and was removed to St. Joseph's hospital in Stockton in the afternoon, dying a few hours later. His friends have recently remarked that he was declining rapidly and that at best he had but a few months to live.

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his wife, nine children. They are: S. J., R. F., W. E., A. E., Bert, and H. M. Frerichs, Mrs. E. H. Banta of Stockton, Mrs. G. A. Peters and Mrs. Leslie Von Dack.

Six brothers and sisters survive him in addition to his immediate family. They are: George L. Frerichs, Mrs. A. W. McGee, H. A. Freichs of Tracy; John L. Frerichs of Byron, Ed Frerichs of Madera and Mrs. Josephine Coffey of San Jose.

He was a native of California, aged 62 years, 8 months and 28 days.

William J. Frerichs was born in San Francisco in 1854, and came to Tracy when a young man. During the last 45 years he has been a resident of this section. Up until 1899 he was engaged in farming, when he removed to Tracy and entered the bursiness world. He was married in 1877 to Mary Francis Ballard, in the city of Tracy.

At the time of his death, he was the proprietor of the Bank Barber Shop and Cigar Store.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Odd Fellows' hall under the auspices of the Native Sons of which order he had been a member for many years.
