George Hetzel Dies at 95, Came from Germany at 16.
George Hetzel, 95, died Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Lins of Spring Green. Born in Germany, June 13, 1864, he came to the United States when he was 16 years old. He farmed in the town of Spring Green until he moved to Plain 29 years ago. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain and the Holy Name Society of the church.
Surviving are one son, Leo, of Spring Green; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Lins of Spring Green, and Mrs. Jacob Schauer and Mrs. Leo Weiss of Sauk City; 29 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and two sons, Herman and Louis.
Funeral services for Mr. Hetzel were held Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the Hetzel home in Plain, and at 9:30 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Plain with the Rev. Raymond McAleer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
