Amelia Fastner was baptized in Solka, Suczawa, Bukovina, a daughter of Wenzel Fastner and Catherine Niga. In June 1887, the Fastner family immigrated to America. They lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Yuma, Colorado; and Johnson Township, Marathon County, Wisconsin. In 1905, Amelia became a Catholic nun when she joined the convent in LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and her name became Sister M. Alodia. In 1965 she retired to Villa St. Joseph, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

An obituary lists the details of her many years of teaching:

Sister Alodia (Amelia) Fastner, 85, died at Villa St. Joseph Nursing Home, Friday, March 2. She was born Dec. 23, 1887 [1886], in Bukowina, Austria, and came to the United States at the age of one. In 1907 she entered St. Rose from Athens, Wis., and at her death she was in the 64th year of her religious profession. In 1965 she retired to Villa St. Joseph.
Sister Alodia served the community 56 years in the teaching capacity. She taught 32 years in Iowa - West Point, six years; Sherrill, five years; Ss. Peter and Paul at Carroll, four years; Mallard and Mount Carmel, three years each; Festina, Guttenberg and Lansing, two years each; and Balltown, Bellevue, Breda, Halbur and Maple River, one year each.
Twenty-four years were spent in the Diocese of La Crosse - Plum City, St. Rose Convent here, five years each; St. Joseph three years; Sacred Heart in Eau Claire and Blessed Sacrament in La Crosse and Stanley, two years each; and Big River, Holy Trinity in La Crosse; St. Joseph Ridge, Loyal and Menomonie, one year each.
A sister, Mrs. Joseph Recher [Pecher] of Athens, survives.
Services and Mass will be Tuesday in Mary of the Angels Chapel, St. Rose Convent. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Rose Convent Monday afternoon and from 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel.
