Robert Joseph Burns, Sr.,age 87, passed away April 17, 2013. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Catherine Jeanette Bardon Burns and William Glissan Burns. Survived by his beloved wife, Sue Hutcheson Burns; daughter, Michael Burns Cheatham (Steve) of Petersburg, TN and grandsons, Bart and Rhett Cheatham; daughter, Lisa Burns Pardon (Kent) of Columbia, TN and grandchildren, Ashton and Logan Pardon; son, Robert Joseph Burns, Jr. of Triune and grandsons, Josh (Holly), Ross (Brittney) and Karson Burns, and great-grandson, Mason Burns; daughter, Bunny Burns Blackburn (Mike) of Nashville, TN and grandchildren, Callie, Anne Elizabeth, Michael and Clare Blackburn; son, Thomas Fitzgerad Burns (Lisa) of Eagleville and granddaughters, Shelby and Addison, and Lindsey (Brad) Kincaid, and J'Anna (Robbie) Fickett; and son, John Carroll Burns (Michelle) of Triune, TN; brother, John G. Burns (Kay) of Nolensville, TN; sisters-in-law, Frances Burns and Judy Nicholson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was a graduate of Father Ryan High School, Class of 1944. He was a World War II veteran Army Infantry and served in three major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge and the battles of the Rhein River and Central Europe.
His true love was farming and rabbit hunting. Growing corn and his famous tomatoes were his passion. He was a founding member of the Sure Shot Rabbit Hunters Association and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 544. He always had a good joke to tell and a big smile on his face. A great man has gone home to the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association and the Wounded Warriors Project. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with a funeral service to be conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, the 19th of April at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Franklin, TN. Burial will follow in Triune Methodist Cemetery.
