Josiah Bugbee & Sarah Hubbard are my 5th great Grandparents...

Source for death:
Connecticut Town Death Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection)

From "The Family of Edward Bugbee" by Justin Coy Bugbee. Josiah Bugbee was two years old when his father moved to Woodstock, Connecticut. He was one of the first settlers of Ashford, Connecticut. And bought land of Captain John Chandler in 1712, in that part of town called New Scituate. On March 5, 1713, it was voted at the Ashford Proprietors meeting "that each Proprietor have 200 acres set aside for him" and that in accordance with that vote, 45 of the Proprietors drew 200 acres of land each. Josiah Bugbee was one of the Proprietors. He was active in establishing of the first church in Ashford and on February 12, 1727, he was elected one of the Deacons.

Josiah & Sarah was the parents of nine children; Josiah Jr.,Edward, Sarah, Amity, Penelope, Nathaniel, Pelatiah, Ester & Anna.

In the history of Ashford, Deacon Josiah and Sarah were prominent in carving out a township during the wild and sometimes dangerous era. Josiah is noted to be on a committee to choose the "school - dames" when the schools were being built. Sarah Hubbard [his wife] was one of the "dames" hired.
