Gene Vaughn was the third child of Riley J. Vaughn and Chloe A. Jenkins. I remember Uncle Gene as a very unassuming sort of man with a gentle spirit who loved his family. I always thought so much of him.
He was the next older brother of my father, William P. Vaughn, they were close as children & young men and would remain very close for the rest of their lives. It was uncanny, how much they seemed to be alike and sounded alike. They had the same disposition and voice; Uncle Gene's voice sounded just like my father over the phone.
I know that Uncle Gene served in the Army in WWII. I'm not sure of the specifics; such as where he stationed and what duties he was assigned. I'll have to try to find that out.
Rest in peace, Uncle Gene; you were loved and are very missed!
