Jesse Earl Aylward, son of Marion Frances and Canarissia Ellen White Aylward was born June 19, 1898, in Scotland County and passed away March 13, 1986, at the Bloomfield Manor, Bloomfield, Iowa. He was inducted into the U. S. Army on Armistice Day, November 11, 1919. He was married to Bessie Hyde, January 14, 1925. They had 61 years of life together farming. He was interested in nature and caring for livestock. He lived his entire life within a few miles from where he was born. Mr. Aylward was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Pearl Shelley; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Mae McDaniel, Della Stott, Irma Enness and an infant sister. Also preceding him were three brothers, Roy, Lloyd, and John and three half-sisters, Edna Crabbs, Emma Stoner, and Frankie Cunningham. Jesse fell January 1, 1985 and broke his hip had been in failing health after his fall. Services for Jesse Earl Aylward were held Sunday, March 16, 2 p.m., from the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel. Rev. Peggy Jeffries and Rev. Bruce Jeffries officiated. The musicians were Peggy and Bruce Jeffries. Body bearers were Lee Aylward, Miles Chancellor, Donald Shelley, Dean Simerl, Mike Aylward, Dale McDaniel, Clair Shelley, and Steve Morris. Honorary bearers were Phillip Cone, Kenneth Marquette, Curvin Martin, Emil Shelley, Harley Baker, James Freburg, and Jack Simerl. Burial was in the Brock Cemetery. Arrangements were by Payne-Gerth Funeral Home.
