DANVILLE, Va. - Margarethe Sonntag Wilson, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.

Born May 3, 1923, in Germany, she was the daughter of Ernst Gustave Sonntag and Lina Irmscher Sonntag. She and her family came to the U.S. in 1928 and obtained citizenship. She had lived in New Jersey and in Inverness, Florida prior to moving to Danville in July 1998. She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Katherine M. Owen of Danville, Christine T. Green of Bushnell, Florida and Patricia L. Kaspar of Forked River, N.J.; one son, Richard E. Hofmann of Jackson, N.J.; a twin sister, Charlotte Knapp of Manchester, N.J.; a brother, Hans Sonntag of Navarre, Fla.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A private memorial service will be held for only the family with the Rev. Jimmy Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
