Abadessa, Dorothy A., 89, of Fort Lauderdale, FL passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009 at Holy Cross Hospital.
A long time resident of Rutherford and Glen Rock, NJ. She and her loving husband Frank have resided in Fort Lauderdale since 1970. Dorothy was formerly employed at Sandvick Steel in New Jersey and Coral Ridge Properties, Inc., Coral Springs, FL in the accounting field.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Frank Abadessa; children Lorraine F. Abadessa of Fort Lauderdale, Frank R. (Ann) Abadessa of Jupiter, FL, Joyce A. Mowry of Wayne, NJ, and Robert J. (Ann) Abadessa of Nazareth, PA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Beatrice Hughes of Toms River, NJ. Predeceased by two sisters Margaret Morea and Elizabeth Simpson. Dorothy was a devoted member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home Monday, Mar 9, 2009 from 5-8 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Mar 10, 2009 at 10 am in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2511 N. Ocean Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL with entombment in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, North Lauderdale, FL. Arrangements by Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
