Son of Laura Bell "Shaefer" and Edward Thomas Rees Sr. in Indianapolis.
In 1948, Edward married Mary Etta Presley in Camden, Arkansas.
Edward was drafted into the United States Army in 1941, receiving his basic training in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, and served as a mapmaker in the 29th Army Corps of Engineers in Portland Or. After the war he worked as a Commerical Artist at Indianapolis Engraving Company. He moved to South Bend in 1946 to work in the art department at Studebaker Corp, and worked at there until 1962. He then worked at Cloatingh & DeMan Commerical Art Studio before opening his own business, Fowler and Rees, with partner David Fowler, in South Bend. Upon Mr. Fowler's retirement, Edward was a self-employed Commerical Artist, retiring in 1990. He did detailed product illustration for many large area companies. He was a member of the National Guard, and a lifetime member of the Elks lodge #235 in South Bend.
