Hiram L. Carbaugh aged 59 years, South Mountain, died at 5:45 o'clock last night, at the Gateway Nursing Home, near Clearspring, where he had been a patient since February 2. He was born at South Mountain, the son of Albert and Nancy Strang Carbaugh, and left South Mountain at an early age. He was employed as a well digger for a number of years. Then he learned the machinist trade and was last employed at Cochran and Company, Philadelphia, until his health failed three years ago. Since that time, he has made his home with his sister, Mrs. B.E. Webber, South Mountain. His wife, Edna Frye, died 10 years ago. Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. William Linde, Philadelphia; David Carbaugh and Mrs. B. E. (Phoebe) Webber, South Mountain; Mrs. Herman Carl, Williamsport, Md.; Mrs. Nettie Shank, Mrs. Jesse Shaw and Mrs. Edith Carl, all of Hagerstown. A brother, George Carbaugh, died 40 years ago.
Burial will be made in Strang's Cemetery, South Mountain.
