Emily Jean Abbas, age 64, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at her home in Wahoo.

She was born December 11, 1938 at Dickens, IA to Ivan and Emma (Gadsby) Hargrave. She graduated from Webster City High School in Webster City, IA and Webster City Junior College. On June 26, 1959 she married John R. Abbas at Webster City, IA.

Jean spent her life working as a grade school teacher, childcare provider and homemaker. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church in Lincoln, NE and was more recently a charter member of Gretna Baptist Church in Gretna, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law Patty and Wendell Michelson. Survivors include her husband John of Wahoo; daughters and sons-in-law Brenda Abbas of Boston, MA, Elizabeth and Dallas Dick (and granddaughter Kaitlyn Dick) of Omaha, Rebekah and Christopher Lyon of Parker, CO, Beverly and Myron Alloway (and grandsons Kyle, Kody and Kory Alloway) of Hastings; brothers and sisters-in-law Ron and Martha Hargrave of Webster City, IA, Russell and Judy Hargrave of Albert Lea, MN; sisters and brothers-in-law Betty and Merrill Blackburn of Des Moines, IA, Alice and Orville Sangl of Spirit Lake, IA. Jean will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend.
