Death: Aug. 11, 1901

SHAVER:---May Elizabeth, daughter of Ephraim and Sarah Shaver, was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia, April 5th, 1874, and departed this life at her home in Randolph County, Indiana, August 11th, 1901, aged 27 years, 4 months and 6 days.
She came with her parents while yet a small girl to Randolph County, Ind., and settled near North White River, where the most of her short life has since been spent. It was there that she attended church and Sunday school, and where in 1890 she graduated in the public school. It was there the ties of life, that are dear to the heart, were formed that cling to fond rememberance in all the after years, and Lizzie was loved and respected for her kind and affectionate disposition. Nearly a year ago she met with an accident that left her health impaired and from which she never fully recovered.
She was united in marriage to Walter Burton on the evening of her last birthday. But little did we think it would be the last and that when it became her first wedding anniversary she would have gone away from us, and it be spent by her loving young husband in the sorrow of life's greatest bereavement. But so it is in this life, the fondest hope of earth is so blasted, the brightest dream gone, and the most cherished desire fall.
She leaves mother weeping, two sisters and two brothers in sorrow, the young husband heart broken, and her parting gift to her loved ones, two tender baby boys, without a mother, and many other friends and relatives to mourn her departure, and has gone to meet the father over whose cold form she so rescently wept with those of her other loved ones.
Funeral at Maxville conducted by Rev. A. M. Addington assisted by Rev. J. A. Wetzel, after which all that was mortal of Lizzie was laid to rest in beautiful Woodlawn Cemetery.
