Article from the "Oregon Journal" newspaper, Portland, Oregon, October 29, 1962, pg. 9, col. 1:
"Isaac Abraham Asbury of Portland celebrated his 100th birthday Sunday and members of his family held a party to mark the event. Among celebrants was his 76-year-old son, of Sheridan, and a great, great grandchild, 15-month-old Cheryl Smith, who came to the party with her parents from Springfield. Spry and active, centenarian Asbury is an avid baseball fan, still bemoans the San Francisco Giants' loss in the World Series. The space race puzzles this man who said he 'never smoked, drank alcohol, or told lies' and recommends working outdoors to anyone aspiring to a ripe old age."
