Gertrude was born to Joseph Morris Vail and Catherine Louise "Kate" "Katie Ellen" Brotherton in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was raised in and around Liberal and Lamar, Missouri. She attended Liberal schools and attended the high school in Liberal through freshman year. She corresponded with her friends from her school days right until the end.
Gertrude married Charles Raymond Miller and with him, raised 5 children. She was an active member of The Salvation Army and taught adult Sunday School classes through her final year.
Gertrude was an exemplerary mother, wife, grandmother, great & great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and prayer warrior. She brought hope and happiness to many and never shied about sharing the message that Jesus is the Christ and our one true friend.
Gertrude is fondly and lovingly remembered. See you in Heaven.
