OBITUARY:
Maren Christina Asmussen was born, August 25, 1857, across the sea at Jagerup, North Slevig, and died at Beloit, Kansas, Sunday, August 5. Mrs. Asmussen's home was 2 1/2 miles south of Simpson, but she had been in a hospital at Beloit in an effort to gain relief from her malady, and although she rallied from the operation she could not withstand the shock and passed away early Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at Glasco, Tuesday, August 7, at the Lutheran church.

Mr. Asmussen and Misses Maren and Elizabeth Hansen were in a party which emigrated to this country in 1882, and on March 25 of the following year Miss Maren Hansen became the bride of Mr. Hans Christian Asmussen. The young couple went to housekeeping on the place the family still lives on, and where they have resided ever since their marriage.

To this union were born seven children, five of which with their father are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother; two preceded their mother to their heavenly home. The living children are: Chris. of Simpson; Henry, of Culver, and Yens, Carl and Miss Anna who are at home. The deceased also leaves a sister, Mrs. Fredreck Peterson Beck of Glasco.
