Horace Aleshire was the son of Douglas and Matilda Aleshire. In 1910, according to the U.S. Census, he was 33, married, his wife, Dora B., 25, and their three year old daughter, Pauline, were living with his parents. In April of 1910, he was working as an insurance agent.
Later, according to his registration for the WW I draft and the 1920 census, he notes that he was the Postmaster in Plymouth. He was reappointed in 1915 and served that term; after which he returned to his insurance business after leaving the post office.
At this time, appointments to the post office were made by the sitting president. If you had worked for the Republican Party and you were Postmaster, you would leave the office if the Democratic candidate had won the election for president. Therefore, this person in this position was changed every 4 to 8 years.
