Tallahassee Democrat 4 March 1969

R. F. Bradford Jr., Dies;
From a Pioneer Family
Robert F. Bradford Jr., member of a Tallahassee pioneer family and former public official, died unexpectedly yesterday at his home at 322 Ausley Rd.
Bradford, 84, was born in Leon County Aug. 1, 1884, and lived his entire life in the area. He served on the Leon County School Board for six years and the County Commission for 14 years.
When he retired from the County Commission in December 1954, the body adopted a resolution calling Bradford "a man of strict integrity, an officer of great ability, and a public servant with a high sense of responsibility.
"In meeting the many problems arising out of Leon County's tremendous growth and development during his period of service, he has been progressive in spirit, temperate in judgment and wise in his decisions," the resolution said.
Bradford worked in dairy farming, a business begun by his father. He was a life-long member of Pisgah Methodist Church. From 1900 to 1903 he attended Florida State College - now Florida State University - where he played football.
Bradford is survived by his wife, Alma Moore Bradford; a son, Richard H. Bradford; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Roberts and Mrs. Fred Parker; and five grandchildren, Mrs. David Lund Jr., Mrs. Jerry McDanniel, Mrs. Paul Parker, Miss Katy Bradford, all of Tallahassee, and Mrs. Joe Rivera of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Frank Bickerstaff of Columbus, Ga.
