At a family reunion in 2000, Allene and Bill Cook told me that they married and divorced three times and they almost married a fourth time. Apparently, they couldn't live together but were friends to the end. They lived on the same street in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Allene Poole Sewell Cook, 87, died Nov. 5, 2008, in Broken Bow. Allene was born on July 16, 1921, in Broken Bow, to Annie Slaton Poole and John Newman Poole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert Franklin Sewell and William O. Cook; her brother, Ledger Poole; nephew, Terry Allen Poole; and grand-nephew, Chase Clawson.
A graveside service was held at the Avery Cemetery in Avery, Texas.
