Birth: Feb. 7, 1842
Death: Apr. 2, 1905
Budapest
Budapest Capital District, Hungary

Her father was Joseph Bajza, Hungarian poet, her mother Julia Csajághy. Writing from 1857 onwards, she was published in many contemporary newspapers. She was well known in her time as a major Hungarian poet.

In 1854 she married Gustav Heckenast, publisher, from whom she was subsequently divorced. In 1862 she married Francis Beniczky, later to be Pest county lord lieutenant.
She toured western Europe extensively with her husband, since as an upper-middle-class woman she was able to easily go abroad.

Over time, a wide range of novels appeared, and in their time they were very popular. She was elected to The Petofi Society in 1878. Her best known works include: Martha, Wide Roads, Secrets of the Veil, Secret marriage, Eternal Law.
