George F. Groom, 62, Old Time Resident of Morrison Succumbs
George F. Groom, 62, pioneer resident of the Morrison district, died at the Porter Sanitarium, Denver, last Thursday night, November 24, after a lingering illness. George Franklin Groom was born in Fredonia, Kans., September 14, 1876 and came to Colorado with his parents John T. and Nancy Groom in a covered wagon. While en route over the plans he celebrated his first birthday. The family first moved to Turkey creek canon where they lived for eleven years, moving then to the Morrison community. He had been employed by the state, city of Denver and county highway departments. He is survived by five sisters, Emma Jane Groom, Mrs. Julia Baker, Mrs. Ray Fuller of Morrison, Mrs. Effie M. Knoll, of California, Mrs. Pierce Herr of Golden; two brothers. James H. Groom, Denver and John Edward Groom, Morrison. Funeral services were held from the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2 p. m. Monday with Rev. Swensen officiating. Interment was in the Morrison cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Matthews. Andrew Jordan, Charles Cochrane, Edmund Fleming, L. V. Pike and John Matthews.
