|Death: ||Mar. 24, 1881|
Hiram Adams was born to William Samuel Adams and Philena (Hinds) Burritt. His parents' families were United Empire Loyalists which resulted in a great deal of movement between Vermont and Ontario, consequently his birthplace has not been established. He married Elizabeth Froom 25 December 1822 who came from another UEL family. Their known children were: Rachel 1824, Olive 1826, Charlotte 1830, Mary Easter 1835, Elizabeth 1838, Hiram 1841, John F. 1843. Hiram was a lumberman engaged in getting out masts for ships under the Queen's orders. After the Civil War Hiram and some of his family moved to Rock Co., Wisconsin before heading further west. At the time of his death he was a widower living in Chicago with his daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Eugene Bellway. Apparently he had become childish and would wander away from their home. He was struck by a train and died of his injuries at St. Luke's Hospital. He is buried without a marker in a single grave.
