Jane Jaynes, age 86, of Joplin, passed away from injuries sustained in a tornado on May 22, 2011. Born Nov. 11, 1924, in Webb City, Mo.
She is a member of Joplin Heights Baptist Church.
Jane was a vibrant healthy woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and daily walks. She enjoyed spending time visiting with friends and family. She especially enjoyed her time with her great-grandchildren with whom she would still watch and interact with by playing, cooking and reading.
She married Eugene C. Jaynes on Aug. 9, 1945, in Columbus, Kan., and together they owned and operated Gene's Dari Jane at 26th and Main Street in Joplin, from 1960 to 1985, and lived in this area her lifetime.
Eugene preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1998.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Pierce; her daughter, Marilyn Louise Jaynes; and four brothers, Fred Pierce, Andrew Pierce, Bert Pierce and Jack Pierce.
She is survived by one son, Richard Jaynes and his wife, Debbie, of Joplin; one daughter, Carole A. Waggoner and her husband, Ralph, of Joplin; one brother, William Pierce, of Alba, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Yost, of Modesto, Calif., and Bobbi Holmes, of Kingston, Idaho; four grandchildren, Jeff Jaynes and wife, Darla, Christy Waggoner and partner, Dustin Gilpin, Kelly Weaver and husband, Jonah and Chrisanna Jaynes and partner, Shaun Brunner; three great-grandchildren, Blake Brunner, Campbell Waggoner and Owen Weaver.
