DEATH OF MRS. A. H. CRESSY
Hartington Herald, Hartington, NE
Feb 25, 1916

This community was greatly shocked yesterday to hear that Mrs. A.H.Cressy, one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Cedar County, had passed away after a short illness. Her death was due to [?]latle rheumatism, following an attack of diphtheria.

The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the home.Rev. G. [?]. Pendell officiating, and interment will be made in the Hartington cemetery.

The late Mrs. Cressy was the wife of A. H. Cressy, one of the prominent farmers of the county, and was one of our most highly esteemed pioneers. She was born in Houston county, Minnesota in Aug 12, 1864 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sinclair. The family came to Nebraska about 36 years ago settling near Pender in Cuming county, and 34 years ago the daughter was married to A. H. Cressy of that same county. Twenty-four years ago this spring Mr. and Mrs. Cressy came to Cedar County and made their home on a farm west of town where they have since resided.

The late Mrs. Cressy is survived by her Husband and 13 children as follows: Chester and Denzel Cressy of Lyman county, S. D., Ignatius Cressy of Boyd county, Nebr., Mrs. Effie Newsam, Mrs. Pearl Newsam, Clarence B., Burl, Walter, Basil, Pete, Hulda, Vivian and Kate Cressy of this county; two sisters, Mrs. J. M. Parson and Mrs. Geo. Parson of Cedar county, and by a father and mother, four brothers and two sisters living in Boyd county.

The late Mrs. A. H. Cressy was a faithful and affectionate wife, a loving and devoted mother, a kind friend and neighbor, and in a respectable most exemplary and estimable Christian woman. Her death will not only be a great loss to the bereaved husband and large family of motherless children left to mourn, but also to the community at large by which it will be sincerely mourned.
