Mrs. Maria Sipe, age 88, died yesterday afternoon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.C. Eihl, 2243 Twenty-seventh street, Rock Island. Mrs. Sipe was born June 17, 1830, in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. She there married John W. Sipe, who died thirteen years ago. She came to Rock Island nine years ago to make her home with her daughter. She was the mother of thirteen children, seven of whom survive her. They are Mrs. L.C. Eihl of Rock Island, Mrs. Josephine Strasser of Waterbury, Nebraska, Mrs. Mary Jarchow of Douglas, Wyoming, William B. Sipe of Bellingham, Washington, Fred N. Sipe of Alta, Iowa, Edward Sipe of Denver, Colorado, and George Sipe of Rock Island. She leaves twenty-two grandchildren, three of whom are in the army service, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the cemetery there.
