Thomas Webster Brown was the son of Thomas H. and Margarett Loretta Brady Brown. Even though his headstone indicates that Thomas was born in 1880, he was born in 1879.
On 13 September, 1904, Thomas married Miss Grace Jane Arthur in Washington Co., IA. The couple had six children, four of whom survived to adulthood: Beatrice, Bernice, Arthur, and Virginia. Sadly, two died shortly after birth; Edward Earl (b.2 August 1905, d. 3 Aug, 1905), and Mary Kathleen (born and died 21 March 1916.)
Thomas Webster Brown was a Roadmaster for the Rock Island Railroad.
Family legend has it that when Thomas Webster was ill and dying, he received last rites from the Catholic Church. His wife, Grandma Gracie, was Protestant, and in those days Catholics and Protestants could not be buried together. So, the family purchased a burial plot that was on the dividing line between the two sections, Catholic and Protestant, with the line going right down the middle, between the plots!
