Lee was the son of William O. and Anna (Nelson) Higgins; he had spent his entire life in Lake City, Iowa. After attending high school, he worked for the Seufferlein Grocery for some time, then became a house painter.
He was a brother of: Cleo, Warren, Richard, George, Vernon, Jack, Donald, Dorothy, Minnie, and Baby Higgins.
Mr. Higgins became a member of the First Presbyterian church of Lake City in early life.
During the greater part of his life, his health was not the best. It made his work somewhat difficult for him at times, but it was a problem he met with good courage. He died at the local hospital after a four day stay.
He was interested in raising dogs and had made plans to follow that hobby more extensively. Duke and Duchess were
his family; he took them with him to visit his brother Donald and family.
The funeral service was held at the Karn Funeral Home on October 4, with Rev. C. O. Stuckenbruck officiating. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Darryl E. Johnson with Mrs. Short as accompanist. Pallbearers were: Lyle Griggs, Irvin Emo, Ben Hart, Russell Miller, L. R. Fulkerson, and Lee Heath. Interment was in the Lake City Cemetery.
