Son of William Teague and Sarah Frances Womack Teague, James Riley had ten brothers and sisters. He served in the Civil War as a Private, 27th Regiment Alabama Infantry, Company A and C. His unit was in North Carolina when the surrender came, and thankfully he made it back to Alabama. His first marriage was to Mary Susan Peacock in 1865. His second marriage was to Madgie Rosie Lee Sparks, June 1, 1899, in Lawrence Co. Alabama. He was 56 and she was 15. They had six children... Joe Bryan, Jethro Buford, Edward, Tennis, Martha, and Andy. He is buried next to Madgie in Morris Chapel Cemetery, Lawrence Co. Alabama.
