Ralph H. Hale, 83, died Saturday at a hospital in Alva. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Carmen with the Rev. J.M. Lemmon and the Rev. R.T. DeLay officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery near Carmen directed by Fisher Funeral Home.
He was born June 7, 1905, in Hutchinson, Kan. He married Laura Highfill in 1936 in Sedan, Kan. He was a retired farmer and longtime Cherokee school bus driver. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carmen.
Survivors are his wife, Laura, of the Carmen Home; two sons, A.B., Doniphan, Mo., and retired U.S. Army Col. James N., Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Kay Pfleider of Alva; two sisters, Lila Matles of Fort Smith, Ark. and Dora Tatro of Alva; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
