Mary Ann was the eldest of eight children born to George Washington Leeka (1804-1877), and his second wife Mrs. Jane (Sanders) Peters (1808-1886), (the former wife of Davis Peters). Mary Ann's parents are buried in the Union Cemetery in Windsor, Randolph County Indiana.

Mary Ann was first married to Charles Miller on Nov. 26, 1857, in Randolph County Indiana. Note: They had a daughter named Alice (Miller) Koons (1857-1957), who is buried near Mary Ann, in this Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mary Ann was later the wife of William Barnhouse (who was born in Hampshire County Virginia about Jan. 1827, and later lived in Howard, Grant, and Delaware Counties, in Indiana). Note: Mary Ann was "possibly" his fourth(?) wife (out of five wives).

Mary Ann and William Barnhouse were married on June 16, 1878, in Howard County Indiana (per: Index to Marriage Records, 1844-1920 Inclusive. Origional record located at County Clerk's Office, Book C-3, page 443).

Mary Ann and William Barnhouse were divorced in Delaware County Indiana, in Nov. of 1890 (case # 6559).

Mary Ann's death certificate also states that she died in the Village of Buchanan, Michigan, on April 10, 1911, of cancer of the stomach, at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 2 or 3 days. The "informant" on her death certificate is listed as (her daughter) Mrs. Alice Koons (1857-1957) (wife of John Thomas Koons), who are also buried here in Section G, Lot # 16, with Mary Ann (along with 7 other people named "Koons").

See Mary Ann's death lists her incorrectly under "House", as Mary Ann Barn HOUSE.

The 1900 and 1910 census shows Mary A. Barnhouse, divorced, living with Elmer and Emma Swisher, in Berrien County Michigan. Emma Swisher is another daughter of Mary's, b.1870.

Note: There is no headstone for Mary.
