Jacob was born on July 14, 1814 in Kentucky. He was married three times and fathered 7 daughters and 1 son. He first married Mary Ann Gregory who had 2 daughters with him, then he married Nancy Ann Wagggoner who produced 3 daughters and 1 son, and lastly he married Emeline Barker. Jacob and Emeline had two daughters and adopted Edward Kimble. Jacob died before Emeline at the age of 84 years and 6 months. Emeline died on August 15, 1903 at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 29 days. From the time he was married he lived in Illinois and Iowa. Little is known about his life before he married at the age of 27.
