JACK M'QUOWN DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS
Bessemer Man Succumbs to Ruptured Stomach
Jack McQuown, 41 died at 6 o'clock this morning at Gogebic county hospital where he had been a patient for about 3 weeks. On April 4 he was taken suddenly ill and submitted to an operation for a ruptured stomach. For several days he was in a critical condition but was getting along well until this week when complications developed.
Mr. McQuown was born in March 1884 in Stambaugh and was 41 years old. He was married in 1909 in Crystall falls to Miss Grace Trevarthen and they came to Bessemer about 13 years ago to reside. Their only child, a daughter, Isabelle, died May 21, 1924, and Mrs. McQuown died in September.
Since the death of his wife, Mr. McQuown made his home with Mrs. McQuown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Trevarthen. During the time of his residence here he was employed as second mining captain for the McKinney Steel company. Mr. McQuown is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. McQuown, and five brothers, Charles, Earl, Russell, Willis and Carl, all of Stambaugh, and three sisters, Mrs. Moses of Milwaukee, Mrs. Malmquist and Miss Bessie McQuown of Stambaugh. His brothers Charles and Earl arrived here last night, called by his illness.
No funeral arrangements had been made this moring. They will be announced later.
