Richard O. Bade, 83, of Fort Wayne, a retired professional engineer, died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Lutheran Hospital. The Fort Wayne native was retired from the Federal Housing Administration. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne Turners and Society of Professional Engineers. Surviving are his wife, Florence I.; daughters Martha Starnes and Mary Detlefsen, both of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Julie Poling of Fort Wayne; stepsons Rev. Steven Schlund of Ravenna, Neb., and Jerry Schlund of New Haven; sisters Dorothy Holtzman of Angola and Virginia Wheeler of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His first wife, Erma, preceded him in death. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity English Lutheran Church, Krauss Chapel, 405 W. Wayne St. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery! Garden s. Memorials are to the church or Fort Wayne Turners.
