Son of, John Martin Gardner and Nora Ellen Ellis, he was named after his Uncle Charlie Ellis. He was called Gib, Charlie or Charles. He met and married Lola May Prestridge on March 4, 1935. He worked as a farmer, dairy farmer and mined in the American, Hornet, Tyrone, and Shrine Mines of Southwest New Mexico. He cut, polished and made turquoise jewelry. He also ran two service stations during his work years. He retired in 1978. He and his wife's hobbies were hunting, fishing, rock and arrowhead hunting, camping and picnicing. In memory of Grandad Gardner. I miss his laughter and his stories. When I read my Bible I think of him and the conversations about Jesus.I also remember the many colors of Iris he grew and picked to take to my Grandmother when she was in the hospital. -
