Blan E. Applegate, 97, Mooresville, longtime Paragon resident, passed from this life on Monday, December 12th, 2011 at Franciscan St. Francis Health Hospital in Mooresville

He was born January 21st, 1914 in Ashland Township in Morgan County to the late Elmer S. and Cora (Tipps) Applegate.

Mr. Applegate retired from Allied Aggregate in Eagle Creek; where he worked in bookkeeping. He formerly served as the Morgan County Auditor and worked for Pure Oil in Paragon.

He was a graduate of the Paragon High School with the Class of 1931. He was a former member of the Paragon Lion's Club and a member of the Olive Christian Church in Paragon.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting but his greatest joy was time shared with his family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 75 years, Janice M. (Cherry) Applegate of Mooresville; whom he married March 15, 1937. Also surviving are his daughter, Jerry Ann Jenkins and her husband John of Richmond, KY, sister, Beryle Hutcherson of Martinsville and son-in-law, Richard Reasoner and his wife Betty Lou of Indianapolis. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their families; Joellen Kuhn, her husband Karl and their sons, Parker and Trey of Lexington, KY, Tim Reasoner, his wife Katie and their sons, Graham, Kyle and Luke of Ponte Vedra Beech, FL and Tom Reasoner, his wife Jenny and their sons, Jake, Zach and Cole of Carmel, IN.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Jane Reasoner.

There will be a graveside service celebrating his life on Friday, December 16th at 2:00 pm at the New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville. There will be no calling hours.
