"Christopher Columbus Smith was born in Telfair Co. on Sep. 4, 1819. His father was Campbell Smith who came from Robeson Co. NC at the beginning of the 19th century. He married Anna McEachin of Montgomery Co. in Dec. 1839. Eight sons were born to this couple. He died Jan. 4, 1860 and is buried in the family graveyard near the Ocmulgee River. His wife died in June of 1874 and is buried beside him."

"[Frank's] parents were Christopher C. and Annie (McEachin) Smith, both natives of Georgia. The father was a farmer, tax-collector of the county, also judge of the inferior court for some years. His death occurred in January, 1860, at the age of 40 years. His widow died in June, 1874, aged 60 years. The mother was a member of the Methodist Church, and had been since her girlhood. The father was a member and secretary of the Lumber City lodge, No. 199, F(ree) and A(ccepted) M(asons), for many years. Eight children were born to these parents, viz.: John T., Thomas J., William L., Augustus A., Christopher C., Joseph H., Frank and Andrew J."
