Patrick Murphy came to Boston around 1860, and worked as a cotton broker, grocer, scrap metal dealer, and finally a salvager of the ship USS James Adger. He and his wife, Mary F. Gleason had 4 sons and a daughter. Their names are John, Matthew Mark, David, Thomas and Emma Pauline.
The family lived in Somerville on Myrtle St. Patrick lived on Mystic St. at the time of his death.
The boys all died as teenagers from tuberculosis, so his daughter became the light of his life.
