Robert Boggs was born at Mill Creek Hundred in Delaware. He was a Private in the 12th Virginia Regiment during the Revolutionary War. His military records show him at Valley Forge with Washington, at the Battle of White Plains NY and the Battle of Paramus NJ. Robert was also one of the pioneers who first accompanied Daniel Boone to Kentucky and helped build Fort Boonesborough. Robert is buried on the site of his own land in Fayette County at Cave Spring Farm off of Athens-Walnut Hill Pike. His title of Captain comes from having served in that capacity in 1776 in the Cherokee Expedition as part of the Virginia Militia.
