Alton M. Day, Jr., 69, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 30, 2015. A golden
heart stopped beating and is at peace in paradise.
Alton was born on June 15, 1945 to Alton and Ersey Cawthon Day in Amarillo, Texas.
He served in the US Navy and fought for his country in the Vietnam War and was a hero to
many. He was employed by Jimmy Baggett doing construction and remolding of homes.
Not only was Jimmy his employer, but a very dear friend.
Alton is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Day of the home; 3 sons, Shane and wife Debbie Day,
Shannon Day, Wade Day all of Amarillo; a step daughter, Shelli and husband James
Hayes of Pampa; 2 sisters, Juanelle and husband Jan Aldridge of Elizabeth, CO. Linda
and husband Bill Theis of Chicataw, OK; 7 grandchildren, Deshane Day, Savannah Day,
Cheyanne Day, London Day all of Amarillo, Nikki Marcum, B.J. Brittinham, Paige
Brittinham all of Pampa; and 5 great-grandchildren, Haven Day, Nash Wilson, Jett Wilson,
Easton Morgan and Xaiten Brittinham.
Alton was a very kind and loving man that will be greatly missed by many.
The family has entrusted Alton’s cremation care to Winegeart & Eldringhoff Funeral Home
of Pampa. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. The family would like to
give special thanks to Debby Douglas of Interim Hospice Care and to the caring nurses of
Pampa Regional Medical Center.
