Patrick Gallagher Dies At His Home Here
Patrick Gallagher, 82 years old, retired farmer and a resident of Will county for nearly 75 years, died at his home here at 8:15 o'clock, Monday night following a long illness.
Born in County Cork, Ireland, Mr. Gallagher came to this country with his parents when 6 years old, the family settling in Connecticut. In 1854 they moved to Joliet.
Mr. Gallagher attended St. Patrick's Academy for several years and then took up his residence later in this vicinity. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Lawlor, of this place.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Fred Toepper, Mrs. Frank Haley, Mrs. John Glade, Mrs. B. R. McGowan, Mrs. Jessie Chasteen, and the Misses Esther and Kathryn Gallagher; three sons, John, Thomas and William Gallagher; the widow, Mrs. Anna Gallagher; 26 grand-children and one great grand child.
Funeral services were held from the home at 9:30 o'clock this morning to St. Patrick's Catholic church, Wilton Center, at 10:00 o'clock.
Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery of this place.
