Irving C. Allen, 79, of Independence died July 18.
He was born in Portland and raised mostly in Seaside.
Irv lived, worked and traveled all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
In an exciting and varied career path, Irv was a pilot, flight instructor, police officer, missionary, aircraft mechanic and inspector, major in the USAF Auxiliary CAP, chaplain and pastor.
Irv was a missionary bush pilot in the Philippines, building and flying into remote airstrips to serve the people in the highlands and jungles of Luzon. He worked as a police officer, reserve officer, a police sergeant, a detective and a chaplain for Donald, Canby and Seaside.
Irv loved airplanes. He flew in and worked on aircraft all over the Pacific Northwest. Irv and his father, Irving Allen Sr., built the first airport in Seaside.
In everything he did Irv kept Christ at the center of his life and showed and shared the love of God to the people he met.
Survivors include his three sisters; Elizabeth, Loranie and Audrey; one brother; his wife of 54 years, Caroline; sons, Michael Allen and Robert "Duke" Allen; and three grandchildren.
Celebration of life is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel in Independence.
